Dear VMware friends: Vietnam is experiencing the worst COVID outbreak since the start of the pandemic. Thousands have died, but the worst is yet to come. Only 1% of the total population has been fully vaccinated. The country is in total lockdown, and millions of unfortunate people cannot work to earn a little income to support their daily living basis. The healthcare system in Ho Chi Minh city, the largest city and also the epicenter of the outbreak, is on the brink of collapse. I was in Vietnam just a few weeks ago so I could witness this hardship myself. It broke my heart. We’re raising money to provide emergency support to low-income families and frontline workers in Vietnam’s hardest hit communities. With a donation of $8, you can give an essential food package — containing 5kg of rice, 1 bottle of cooking oil, 1 bottle of soy sauce or fish sauce, and a pack of sardine can — that can help a person survive for 2 weeks! All donations will be sent to VietBay Inc., a 501©(3) non-profit organization formed by a group of Vietnamese professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area. All US donations are tax deductible. VietBay Inc. work with The Lotus Charity Foundation (Quỹ Từ thiện Bông Sen), the operator of Quan Com Nu Cuoi, VNHELP, JOY Foundation, and other grassroot groups, to prepare and distribute gift packages and PPE directly to the unfortunate people and medical workers in Vietnam. I will personally match every dollar you donate up to the first $2,000. And with VMware's generous matching program - every dollar from your contribution will have a quadruple effect! Please note "Help Vietnamese struggling due to COVID" in your contribution. Support People with Disabilities, Healthcare and Educational Initiatives Fund
Dear VMware colleagues, Being inspired by the charity causes & missions of Vietbay Teens, a group of teenage kids from many high schools in the Bay Area, I'm currently helping them with organizing their annual charity fundraising event and the celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival for children in the Bay Area. Hence, I would like to ask for your support of their fundraising campaign happening in the upcoming October. Witnessing many heartbreaking stories of victim families during the peak of the devastating COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam, this group of high school students formed back in 2021 with the mission to provide support and remedy the consequence of the pandemic. They organized fundraising events, worked both in-person and overseas with many non-profit organizations in Vietnam to support hospitals and COVID patients. As a result of their initiatives in last two years, they were able to sponsor thousands of N95 masks for hospitals in Vietnam and dozens of thousands of FREE meals for COVID-19 patients in 2021 and cancer patients in 2022 who are in difficult situations. This year, they will work with the Hearts for Hue Foundation, a NGO in Vietnam ( https://heartsforhue.org/ ) in supporting people with disabilities and healthcare and educational initiatives. Additionally, a portion of raised money is also used to organize the culture activities in Mid-Autumn Festival for the children & families in the Bay Area. Being a volunteer in helping with their activities, I am touched by their activities & missions and I personally made my donations for their charity causes and hope that I can do more to help. Your generous contributions will help to change the lives of those who are in disabilities and disadvantaged conditions including improving in their health & education. Please indicate your donation designation for "Support People with Disabilities, Healthcare and Educational Initiatives by Vietbay Teens". All donations will be sent to VietBay Inc., a 501©(3) non-profit organization in the San Francisco Bay Area which Vietbay Teens are members of. All US donations are tax deductible. More info of activities of Vietbay Teens is available here http://vietbayteens.com/

Help the orphans in Vietnam who lost parents due to the pandemic! Fund
Dear VMware friends: In the wake of the devastating COVID-19 pandemic, many innocent children have lost their parents, their lives forever altered, and they now bear scars that no child should ever have to endure. There are so many heartbreaking stories that I personally witnessed in Vietnam: - A 5-year-old boy lost both of his parents while in the isolation camp. - A middle-school student lost his only mother. His relative told me that at night he still quietly talks to the image of his late mother ...and many, many more stories that I can not even write down without holding back the tears. We can never understand the pain they carry. I sometimes look at their pictures just to remind myself how blessed and fortunate we are. We have identified a few orphanages or charities that offer accommodation and educational opportunities for these orphans. For example, this initiative here: https://www.facebook.com/truonghyvonghopeschool We can do more to help. Your generous contributions can make a profound difference in the lives of these orphans. Your donations will provide them with the means to survive, access to education, and most importantly, hope. From the bottom of my heart - thank you for being the beacon of hope these children so desperately need! Please state in your donation "Support for Orphans". I will personally ensure that our contribution is received by the school. All donations will be sent to VietBay Inc., a 501©(3) non-profit organization formed by a group of Vietnamese professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area to receive and distribute fund to charity in Vietnam. All US donations are tax deductible.
