PLEASE SUPPORT AND HELP OUR DOGs Facing the winter in (all) our shelters supporting ProDogRomania e.V. Every winter is the hardest time for our dogs to survive in the four shelters we take care of. It poses special challenges for our animal rights activists and for us to stand this time of the year. The dogs have to be supported by temperatures as low as 25 degrees Celsius and a lot of snow so that they survive this difficult time well. Water in the troughs freezes, the youngest are fed warm meals of oatmeal and chicken stock if possible, so that they sometimes have something warm in their stomach. Straw is regularly brought into the dog houses so that the dogs can lie down warm in these huts. Now before the beginning of winter the dogs must be fed with high-quality food, so that they can form also appropriate winter fur. Additional food supplements such as salmon oil are also very important. In addition, we try to equip all kennels in all shelters throughout the year with enough huts and roofs to provide some protection. But there is still a lot missing! It is our aim to roof all kennels and to provide all dogs with a hut and good food. In order to feed all dogs regularly and to replace frozen water we also need enough workers for this very hard work, especially in winter. There is still a lot of room for improvement here. LEAF Local Ecology and Agriculture Fremont Founded in 2009, LEAF brings people together to grow healthy, pesticide-free food and to learn about environmentally sustainable gardening and urban farming practices. Leaf manages three properties in the East Bay Area - a community garden, one where volunteers grow veggies for donation to a food bank and our newest, a one-acre site, soon to become a micro-farm in the heart of Fremont.

Each year, over 40,000 women will die of breast cancer in the United States. Although prevention, research, and treatment have made tremendous strides over the past two decades, breast cancer remains a major threat to women worldwide. It is the most common cancer in women, regardless of race or ethnicity. While white women are slightly more likely to develop breast cancer than are African American women, African American women are more likely to die of the disease. Asian, Latina, and Native American women have a lower risk than of developing breast cancer, but stigma within Hispanic and Latino groups prevents them from seeking care and enrolling in clinical research. The internal statistics of the Council of Refugee Women in Bulgaria (CRWB) shows around 300 persons (adults and children) residing in Sofia city with a refugee or humanitarian status. Another 350 asylum seekers (as of the end of April 2019, according to statistics of the State Agency for Refugees (SAR) are accommodated in the SAR reception centers in Sofia and Harmanli. After the previous phases of the project, as well as during the awareness raising sessions among refugees and asylum seekers, individual needs were communicated with the project team deriving from various vulnerabilities among the beneficiaries, including GBV, womens health and children – related issues. The Council of Refugee Women in Bulgaria is developing a colaboration, aimed at responding to the need of implementing a comprehensive approach, specific to GBV cases among refugees and asylum seekers in Bulgaria. The need derives from cultural differences and enhanced vulnerability of refugees because of language and cultural barriers, low level of social adaptation, lack of enough information, good civic orientation in the hosting society and poverty as a contributing factor to domestic violence. The approach involves working with both parents and children –to improve parental capacity through the provision of social services or to signal for urgent protection measures in cases of violence against children and GBV, including domestic violence and sexual violence. The focus of the initiative is to target cases regarding gender-based violence (GBV) and other types of violence via direct programs (individual support and group awareness raising and GBV prevention activities) for survivors or persons at risk; multidisciplinary work with professionals in the area, as well as internal organizational development of policies and procedures to position the organization among the licensed social services providers. Specialized support will continue to be provided via an external psychotherapist to provide assessment in cases of violence/risk of violence for survivor or person/child at risk. The external professional assessment will help navigate the case and better prioritize a clients needs of support and subsequent referrals. In addition, individual support will be provided via a vulnerability fund, on the basis of vulnerability assessment, to cover individual urgent needs which are identified or occur in the process of social assessment/case work.

EDUCATION FOR 100 KIDS IN UGANDA SUMMARY Today, education remains an inaccessible right for millions of children around the world. When a child doesn’t have access to a school it impacts every part of their life - from worldviews to life expectancy to likelihood of violence and prevalence of disease. A school is a spark which begins to shape it all. CHALLENGE "Smile for Africa foundation" has the courage to realize the dream of buying land and build a school and orphanage for around 100 kids in rural Uganda. Today the kids are living and studying in constructions, which can hardly be called “house” and “school”. In conditions of misery and constant morbidity the kids could not receive good education, which they deserve. LONG-TERM IMPACT Giving children the opportunity to explore and study is an important first step to their independence. Education is fundamental to sustainable development, it is a powerful driver for reducing poverty and improving health. Giving kids knowledge is giving them a better FUTURE.

Overcomers on the Move is a peer-led 501c3 nonprofit organization. Our mission is to combat human trafficking, addiction, and homelessness through peer-led supportive services. What sets us apart is that we stand in the gap, we specialize in peer support, and we meet people where they are. Presently our board consists of peers and professionals who advocate for vulnerable populations being affected by human trafficking, addiction, and homelessness. Box is once again partnering with Team4Tech and CARE Cambodia to send 11 Boxers on a project to Ratanak Kiri, a rural region of Cambodia, to provide access to quality learning to marginalized ethnic minority students. The goal is to motivate and empower local teachers and students in coding and robotics and to share the work with government officials to inspire the integration of technology across even more rural schools of Cambodia!

Homelessness is a rapidly growing global crisis. Climate change, systemic racism and economic inequality are just a few factors exacerbating this displacement around the world. While this issue is daunting, great work is being done to house those affected and end the damage of this humanitarian crisis.
